In
early March 2016, HFL supporter Cristina Kessler nominated our own Vhuhwavho Nevhungoni (whom we affectionately call “Woo”) for
the 2016
International Children’s Peace Prize.
The International Children’s Peace Prize is awarded annually to
a child, anywhere in the world, “who has fought courageously to promote
children’s rights”.
The prize was launched by KidsRights during the 2005 Nobel Peace
Laureates’ Summit chaired by Mikhail Gorbachev. Since then, the prize has been
presented every year by a Nobel Peace Laureate.
This year a record number of 120 nominated children are in
contention for the internationally acclaimed prize and our own Wavho is among
them.
