Teresa Bertoncin, our valuable VMS Peace Corps volunteer will be completing her PC assignment in March. While we will be sad to see her go, the Limpopo teenagers who formed the ‘Positive Teens on the Run’ running group under her tutelage will no longer have access to the one person who encouraged them to excel.
Hopefully Teresa will help us to continue to support these
brave young runners, all of whom are HIV+, in their quest to run a total of
40,008 kilometers which equals one circling of the globe. This goal they
dedicate to young people who have died directly or indirectly as a result of
stigma and discrimination.
HFL is continuing the effort to sponsor each one of these
runners. If any of our followers is aware of a private running group , high
school or college track team that would like to sponsor these underprivileged
runners, (or if anyone would like to do so themselves) please contact us.
In the meantime, we wish Teresa “Good Luck!” as she runs her
last marathon beside 24 determined, lifelong friends.
